Accommodation
Being a tourist destination, Guimarães has plenty to offer in terms of places to stay.
Prices can vary between 15 € at budget hotels to 180 € at Pousada de Guimarães situated in a 12th century Augustin Convent in the surroundings of the city. Most hotels offer rooms between 45€ and 90€.
Hotel reservation can be done through the travel agency at the registration form.

Travel
The nearest airport is Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport, located in Porto, about 50km from Guimarães. Various airlines, including several low cost airlines fly to Porto.
From the Porto airport, Guimarães can be reached in the following ways:
Shuttle Bus
The getBus shuttle links Guimarães to the Porto Airport. A one way trip takes around 50 minutes. See getBus site for costs and schedules.
Metro and Train
Metro do Porto has a station at the airport (Line E, purple). It links the airport to several places in Porto, including Campanhã train station. A ride from the airport to the Campanhã train station takes around 35 minutes. Metro trains leave the airport every 30 minutes from around 5:30 am to midnight (the last metro train leaves the airport by 00:30 am). It is necessary to buy a rechargeable and reusable card (Andante).
Train (Comboios Urbanos) connections between Campanhã railway station and Guimarães are available every hour. Travelling time is around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Guimarães is also served by the intercity train (intercidades) connecting the city to Porto, Lisbon and to other Portuguese cities (e.g., Aveiro, Coimbra).
Taxi
A taxi ride from the airport to Guimarães should cost around 60 € (at night, prices are higher). Asking for a quotation from the taxi driver is recommended.
Car
Car rental is obviously available at the airport. Reaching Guimarães takes around 30 minutes via the motorways (tolls are charged on the motorways).

Early July in Guimarães is normally dry and warm. But we promise nothing.

In summer, Portugal follows Daylight Saving Time. So, in July, the time will be UTC+1:00.
Passports and Visa
The need for a Passport and a Visa depends on the country you are coming from. Portugal is a member of the European Union and a signatory to the 1995 Schengen Agreement.
